Event Details

The Florida Anime Experience is a new fan convention designed to focus specifically on Japanese animation, manga and popular culture.  The event, run by team members from Florida Supercon, JACON and Wasabi Anime, will take place May 27-29, 2011 at the Ramada Orlando Celebration Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida.

The guest of honor for The Florida Anime Experience is well known voice actor Steve Blum.  With literally hundreds of voice-over credits to his name, Mr. Blum is best known as the voice of "Spike Spiegel" from Cowboy Bebop, “Vincent Valentine” (Final Fantasy VII), “Leeron” (Guren Lagann), “Wolverine” from several incarnations of X-Men (animated movies, games, the Wolverine and the X-Men TV Series and The Super Hero Squad Show), "Tom" (the robot host) from Cartoon Network’s Toonami, “Green Goblin” from the Spectacular Spiderman series, “Heatblast,” “Vilgax” and “Ghostfreak” from Ben 10, “Grunt” (Mass Effect 2), “Tank Dempsey” (Call of Duty), “Oghren” (DragonAge), the voice of 7-11, dozens of Digimon and a gigantic list of other characters from Anime, Video Games, TV and Film.  Currently he’s working on the new super-charged CGI series Transformers: Prime, playing the delusional but deadly Decepticon Starscream!

Mr. Blum appears courtesy of sponsorship from the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (www.spja.org). The SPJA is the parent organization for Anime Expo (www.anime-expo.org), the largest Anime, Manga and Japanese Pop-culture convention in North America. Like Wasabi Anime (Green Mustard Entertainment), the SPJA is an organization that works to promote the arts that are related to Japanese Animation and the culture that surrounds it. They strive to be an organization that enriches lives by becoming an integral part of and helping to facilitate the relationship between Japanese and American popular culture by servicing their fans, peers, and the industry.

Green Mustard Entertainment thanks the SPJA and Anime Expo for their support!

In keeping with the event’s goal of focusing on anime fandom, The Florida Anime Experience will feature viewing room programming designed by the hosts of the top rated podcast: Anime World Order (www.awopodcast.com).  On the web since 2005, AWO’s hosts are known for their extensive knowledge of Japanese animation and they promise to show “only the good stuff” during the weekend.

The convention, like popular events of its kind, will feature costume and cosplay competitions, a dealers room, and other themed entertainment all three days.
